Of Congratulations and Celebrities

Hello Friends!!

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a very Happy Independence Day! Happy 4th to All!! Just like our Ben, Tom, John and George, I will be having the same meal that they celebrated with on July 4th, 1776! My usual menu consists of skinless hotdogs, topped with, relish, red onions, sourkraut and a sliced “Kosher” pickle. This will be served with Bush brand baked beans, steamed fresh corn, my homemade egg and potato salad and coleslaw- and for dessert  – strawberry shortcake!! Now that’s a 4th of July meal!!

I want to send out a Congratulations to the Hartford Stage company on their “Tony Award”!! A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical on June 8th. It’s a great new musical and had its world premiere at Hartford Stage in 2012. On Tuesday, July 1st, dressed in the bright orange t-shirts of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, the full staff of Hartford Stage, including Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak, gathered in Bushnell Park,, for a photograph – a celebration of the homegrown musical-comedy’s recent win of four Tony Awards and the theatre’s first breakeven season in several years.

The staff of Hartford Stage, including Artistic Director and Tony Award-winning Director of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (left of center with award, next to Managing Director Mike Stotts) celebrates the arrival of the actual Tony Award in Hartford. In the spirit of the play, the staff wields all sorts of weaponry to attempt to “murder” Darko.

Inregards to celebrities, I had a wonderful opportunity to meet the “meanest” gal on television- “Nellie Oleson” aka Alison Arngrim- star of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE. Guess what? Nellie,-I mean Alison just happens to be one of the nicest folks I have ever met. I was invited to the Mark Twain House, in Hartford, CT to not only meet Alison- (She told me to call her Alison- wow!!-I’m in Love) but to tape her 90 minute interview hosted by the talented Jacques Lamarre, Director of Communications at the Twain House. Alison has led a fascinating life and details her years as a child actress and shares what it was like to be an actress on “Little House on the Prairie”. I invite all to watch “An Evening with Alison Erngrim of BATV-TV5 or the BATV website- BATVONLINE.ORG. Please feel free to have a look at the program with “Nellie”- at the following link- http://dv2.discovervideo.com/play/?vod=16790.

Thank you Nellie—you can cook for me anytime—even on the 4th of July—Have a great Holiday weekend-and I hope Storm Arthur stays away from our beloved Connecticut shores!
